Analysing Pairwise Logratios Revisited

Even though the logratio methodology provides a range of both generic, mostly exploratory, and purpose-built coordinate representations compositional data, simple pairwise logratios are preferred by many for multivariate analysis in geochemical practice, principally because their simpler interpretation. However, systems that incorporate them predominantly oblique, resulting conceptual practical problems. We propose new approach, called backwards pivot coordinates, where each is linked to one orthogonal system, these then used together produce concise output. In this work, principal component regression with explanatory variables as primary methods demonstrate methodological interpretative advantages proposal. applied part study, sediment compositions from Jizera River, Czech Republic, were analysed using techniques through coordinates. This allowed us discuss grain size control element composition sediments clearly distinguish anthropogenically contaminated uncontaminated strata depth profiles.
